Tim Crosby is a southern Illinois-based songwriter and performer in the Americana/country rock genre. He released a CD titled "Resurrection Mule Farm" with his former band, the Lightning Strikes, in 2017 and currently is recording another CD. He performs more than 100 shows a year, including nearly every weekend at venues in Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky, playing all original music that explores the trials and triumphs of everyday people. His influences include Steve Earle, Tom Petty, Todd Snider, John Prine, Chris Knight and others.

Born in Pana, Ill., a small Central Illinois farming and coal-mining community near Decatur, Crosby is a songwriter living in Dongola. He performs solo or sometimes with the backing of one or two other players.

 

 

Crosby tells audiences his songs come from many places, some of them biographical, some autobiographical, some of them semi-biographical, and some of them complete lies and fantasy.  “But all of them are true,” he says, emphasizing that he attempts to write about emotions, characters and narratives to which many people can relate.

 

Playing acoustic guitar, Crosby performs up to three-hour shows of all-original material, with maybe a handful of cover songs. He regularly plays the winery circuit in Southern Illinois, as well as other venues. His booking agent is Teri Hammond of Top Talent Booking & Promotions.
